About the International Chapter

The International Chapter comprises the International members of the Australian Institute of Architects.

The Australian Institute of Architects is the peak body for the Australian architectural profession, representing 11,500 members across Australia and overseas. The Institute actively works to improve the quality of our built environment by promoting quality, responsible and sustainable design.

The Institute’s International membership provides Australian and International architects the opportunity to become involved with the Institute and maintain their connection with the Australian architecture profession despite not working or living within Australia.

Amongst a range of other Institute member benefits, the International Chapter maintains:

  • the International Chapter Architecture Awards, a tailored Awards program for projects outside of Australia, as part of the Institute’s National Architecture Awards
  • numerous prizes recognising significant contributions to architecture internationally
  • Boarding Pass events for members to meet in key locations around the globe
  • International engagement through kindred professional organisations and agreements

The Institute’s international membership currently represents over 550 members from more than 20 countries. They are represented within the Institute’s organisational structure by the International Chapter Council.
