Making tracks for Perth

I hope you had a good break over the Easter long weekend.

For us at the Institute, thoughts now turn to the National Architecture Conference. In a little over two weeks, Perth will come alive with an architecture festival like no other.

For the first time since the ‘90s, the conference is heading west. Whether you’ve never been to Perth or whether you live there – this is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the architecture and design of this great city – and beyond.

Making: 2014 features guest speakers including:

David Adjaye, Andrew Burns, Alejandro Echeverri, Richard Hassell, Timothy Horton, Wen Hsia and BC Ang, Gurjit Singh Matharoo, Andra Matin, Beth Miller, Lyndon Neri, Sek San Ng, Vo Trong Nghia, Jo Noero, Parlour, Marina Tabassum, Elizabeth Watson-Brown, Emma Williamson and Cazu Zegers.

And there are events aplenty – parties, exhibitions, films, fora and tours – on foot, by bike or bus! – as well as a host of free public events to excite the creative in all of us.

From a sky-drawing collaboration between architects and artists to architectural film showings, the events are designed to capture the essence of architecture and inspire the imaginations of those who ultimately benefit from it.

There is so much to do – and many great learnings (and fun) to be had.

If you haven’t yet registered, don’t despair, there are still a few spots; but do be quick, they will be snapped up.

I hope to see you there!
