He has contributed widely to publications and\u00a0exhibitions, and was a finalist in the 2013\u00a0Australian Timber Design Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Since forming his own practice, Bild Architecture, in 2008, Milbourne has established a reputation for working collaboratively with his clients, colleagues and\u00a0the broader industry to produce serious,\u00a0bold and well-considered designs that\u00a0integrate sustainability to minimize the\u00a0environmental impact of the whole life of\u00a0the\u00a0project.<\/p>\n<p>As a founding partner of Regional Associates, he has significantly contributed to\u00a0community and conservation programs with extremely disadvantaged communities, producing real and tangible benefits for the local people and the environment in Uganda and Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>Milbourne\u2019s personal commitment to architecture and the built environment impressed the jury, making him an excellent candidate for the 2014 Dulux Study Tour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Michael Zanardo, New South Wales<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Zanardo_PROFILE.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1741\" alt=\"Zanardo_PROFILE\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Zanardo_PROFILE-300x300.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Zanardo_PROFILE-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Zanardo_PROFILE-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Zanardo_PROFILE-1024x1024.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Michael Zanardo graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) in\u00a02003 with first class honours and is a registered architect in New South Wales. His\u00a0credentials in all of the Dulux Study Tour\u00a0selection criteria \u2013 practice, design, education and community \u2013 are exemplary.<\/p>\n<p>Zanardo has demonstrated a passion and\u00a0commitment for architecture, in particular social and affordable housing. He\u00a0has published several papers on affordable housing and regularly delivers lectures at public forums, universities, conferences, and\u00a0professional CPD events. Zanardo has\u00a0successfully combined practice and consultancy with an ongoing dedication to research and teaching activities. He has taught\u00a0every year since graduation, first at UTS and now at the University of Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>Zanardo enthusiastically contributes to the\u00a0architecture community, particularly initiatives that engage with the public. A\u00a0team\u00a0member of Super Sydney, he has been\u00a0actively involved in the Institute\u2019s Architecture\u00a0on Show series, has volunteered for Archikidz and is an active member of the\u00a0New South Wales Chapter\u2019s Built Environment\u00a0Committee.<\/p>\n<p>His focus on serving people and community through design was highly commended by the jury, who considered Zanardo an outstanding ambassador for Australia\u2019s emerging architects and a worthy participant in the 2014 Dulux Study Tour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Suzannah Waldron, Victoria<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/SuzannahWaldron_Photo.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1742\" alt=\"SuzannahWaldron_Photo\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/SuzannahWaldron_Photo-300x264.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/SuzannahWaldron_Photo-300x264.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/SuzannahWaldron_Photo-1024x903.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Suzannah Waldron has progressed quickly in\u00a0her career, becoming widely recognized for\u00a0her leadership within the profession in both practice and education. After graduating with first class honours from RMIT University in 2006, she gained valuable experience in the UK and in Europe with the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). In 2007, she co-founded Melbourne-based practice Searle x Waldron Architecture, a firm which is\u00a0engaged in public and cultural projects and\u00a0has an international focus \u2013 a difficult path\u00a0for many.<\/p>\n<p>The studio\u2019s built and unbuilt work is widely awarded and published, most notably the Art Gallery of Ballarat Annexe, which received the Institute\u2019s Victorian Chapter 2012\u00a0Award for Public Architecture \u2013 Additions\u00a0and Alterations and was the cover story for <i>Architecture Australia<\/i>. The studio has\u00a0also won\u00a0multiple competitions including MoCAPE in China and UN-Habitat spatial design competition for a mobility centre in Kosovo, and was shortlisted in the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation\u2019s Fugitive Structures competition.<\/p>\n<p>In practice, Waldron demonstrates a\u00a0high\u00a0level of professionalism, a sense of\u00a0clarity\u00a0in approaching design within complex\u00a0cultural and civic contexts, and\u00a0an\u00a0ability to communicate with professionals and non-professionals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Cherry Williamson, New South Wales<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Self-Photo-B+W.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1744\" alt=\"Self Photo B+W\" src=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Self-Photo-B+W-200x300.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Self-Photo-B+W-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Self-Photo-B+W-682x1024.jpg 682w, https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/duluxstudytourblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2014\/03\/Self-Photo-B+W.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Cherry Williamson received a Bachelor of Architecture with first class honours from the\u00a0University of Newcastle in 2008, and was a\u00a0recipient of the University Medal. She also received the Architects Medallion from the\u00a0NSW Architects Registration Board.<\/p>\n<p>After working with Michael Marshman and Associates in Bega as a student, Williamson worked with Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp in Sydney for five years before\u00a0joining the CKDS Architecture team in\u00a0Gosford in late 2012. In her current role she\u00a0is admired for her ability to read a project\u00a0brief, assemble a team and inspire everyone \u2013 including the client \u2013 to deliver excellence in architectural services from design to completion.<\/p>\n<p>Williamson has made a significant contribution to architectural education and to\u00a0the Australian Institute of Architects as founder and co-chair of EmAGN Newcastle. Over the past eight years, she has mentored a\u00a0number of students and graduates on their journey from university to employment. Williamson impressed the jury with her personal commitment to architecture practice\u00a0and her enthusiasm for her role as a\u00a0tutor, as well as her involvement with the Institute. She started her career as\u00a0a\u00a0research assistant in the office of the Tasmanian Government Architect, and\u00a0is currently employed as a retail design manager\u00a0at Terroir.<\/p>\n<p>Rowe\u2019s commitment to and passion for\u00a0architecture and design is evident in the energy and focus that she has applied to\u00a0extracurricular activities. She is very active\u00a0with EmAGN, first in the Tasmanian Chapter and currently with the New South Wales Chapter, and she is also a prolific blogger and user of social media. As such,\u00a0she is part\u00a0of the next generation of architectural spokespeople, bringing the dialogue about the benefits of design to the\u00a0broader community.<\/p>\n<p>The jury agreed that Rowe would gain immensely from the Dulux Study Tour. Her enthusiasm for sharing information with\u00a0the broader community means she is well\u00a0placed\u00a0to share her learnings from this invaluable experience.
