Nath is an Australian Architect who graduated from\u00a0 the University of Sydney in 2011.\u00a0From 2009 to 2011 he worked closely with Architect Andrew Burns (2013 Jorn Utzon Award for International Architecture recipient).<\/p>\n
Nath is currently working on an $800 million mixed-use development in Sri Lanka as a Consultant Architect for UK\/SriLankan office Balmond Studio, \u201ca research based practice headquartered in London, involved in consulting, architecture, exhibitions, installations, product design and art\u201d. This role follows private projects in Sri Lanka including proposals for an eco-retreat, and the Hillside House (under construction- expected completion December 2013).<\/p>\n
The Hillside House in Kandy, Sri Lanka is a contemporary villa that aims to respond sensitively to the vernacular architectural, tropical mountain landscape and climate, and unique cultural traditions of the area.<\/p>\n
This project led to Nath\u2019s appointment at Balmond Studio, with the Project Management team for the Waterfront Integrated Resort (currently in enabling works stage), and set to be published internationally by the end of the year. Nath left Australia to pursue these opportunities in Sri Lanka, after completing a Master of Architecture at the University of Sydney, and undertaking Global Studio in Bhopal, India. \u201cGlobal Studio is a place-based action research program where international students, academics, and professionals come together with local universities, local government, NGOs, and CBOs to collaborate with disadvantaged communities\u201d.<\/p>\n
Nath is also part of the competition design team to win first place hosted by the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects. The competition is to design a new Colombo Municipal Council Office Building located behind the Colombo Town Hall, an interesting and unique site.<\/p>\n
