Having lived 12 years in the Middle East including 6 years in Qatar she has had the opportunity to deliver projects across the Middle East, Africa and India. Prior to taking up his position at Virginia Tech Richard served as Dean of the School of Architecture + Design at RMIT University, Melbourne Australia, Head of the School of Architecture + Design at RMIT, and Deputy Head of the School of Architecture at the University of Tasmania where he began his academic career as a lecturer. Arch and an Ph.D (Hon.) from the University of Melbourne and an M. Arch from UCLA. She is an astute observer leading investigations that reshape the way we think about conventional building typologies. Her focus on the user experience, whether it is an individual, underserved community or the public at large brings an empathetic perspective that translates everyday programs into places of ease and generosity. She worked in Rotterdam between 2001-2004 for the UK-based firm, Alsop Architects, before joining Mecanoo in 2004. In 2007, Carmen became Associate Architect and an Associate Partner in 2017. Tim has passionately supported the architecture industry, with particular focus on fighting alongside the community on the \u2018Save Our Sirius\u2019 campaign.
