Design Speaks: Artichoke night school 14
Stop, collaborate and listen

Where: Central Park Theatrette Podium Level, Central Park 152-158 St Georges Terrace, Perth
When: Wed 7 May at 6pm – 8pm
Cost: $25

Perhaps the most ubiquitous of creative collaborations is the design duo. But what’s the secret behind a truly successful creative partnership? In this highly respected speaker program presented by Artichoke magazine, we go behind the scenes to find out how two award-winning duos make it work.

Ben Edwards and Juliet Moore set up design practice Edwards Moore in 2009. The studio has received worldwide attention, with work ranging in scale from private houses, retail spaces, exhibitions and temporary pavilions to public buildings and large-scale city planning projects. Edwards Moore aims to encourage new insights that can lead to design innovation.

Kirsten Stanisich and Jonathan Richards are the Sydney based directors of SJB Interiors. Kirsten was instrumental in establishing SJB Interiors in Sydney and has a passion for new and original design that pushes the industry forward. Jonathan’s career began in theatre and exhibition design. He brings a style of refinement and craftsmanship to the interior design projects at SJB.

@ SCALE exhibition

Where: QV1 Foyer, 250 St Georges Terrace, Perth
When: Mon 5 May – Fri 16 May
Opening event Wed 7 May, 6pm – 8pm
Cost:
Free (RSVP for opening event by 5 May)

On public display at QV1 Perth, this exhibition will feature established and emerging Australian designers working across multiple creative fields of urban design, architecture, visual arts, furniture and object design.

@ SCALE presents questions on how designers pursue common themes or ideas through scale, translating the experience of the intimate through to the experience of the vast. How consistent is the process in designing objects of various magnitudes through the making of scaled or real size models, maquettes or prototypes? This exploration is famously depicted by Ray and Charles Eames in their seminal film the Powers of Ten, conceptualising this adventure in magnitudes, depicting the relative scale of the environment in which we work.

To RSVP contact makingfun.scale@gmail.com

Proudly supported by COX, FORM Homes, QV1, HASSELL, Morley Davis Architects, Mark Aronson Architecture, Wood & Grieve Engineers, Dexion, Dulux, Site Architecture Studio and Brendan Jurich Designer Maker, Polyflor and Laminex.
