\"SA_Chapter_Manager_Nicolette_160px\"Well, here we are, post FAD. As with most big events the build-up is all consuming and then suddenly it\u2019s over. Those involved \u2013 organisers, volunteers and attendees \u2013 should feel proud that their efforts have provided an engaging and enjoyable vehicle for promoting educated consideration of architecture and design.<\/p>\n

FAD15 presented a broad range of events that attracted the wider public as well as design professionals. It enabled and enhanced understanding of what architects do and the value of good design. It got people talking about architecture.<\/p>\n

This is a conversation that needs to be initiated and lead by architects. We are the authorities in this field and it is only through being active participants that we will build knowledge and informed decision making regarding built environment issues.<\/p>\n

FAD is one way to do this. However there are others:
\n\u2022 Participate in the review and development of the planning legislation, which is embedding roles for \u201caccredited professionals\u201d
\n\u2022 Engage with end users and stakeholders to build their understanding of the design process and the value it can bring to their environment
\n\u2022 Contribute to the debate regarding DPTI procurement
\n\u2022 Submit an article to InDaily or the Adelaide Review
\n\u2022 Communicate your passion and expertise to others when talking about design with friends, family and acquaintances
\n\u2022 Write up a project for publication in Architecture Australia
\n\u2022 Talk about architecture at your children\u2019s school
\n\u2022 Lobby your local MP regarding built environment and design issues<\/p>\n
