{"id":10356,"date":"2015-10-22T09:31:26","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T22:31:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/news-media\/?p=10356"},"modified":"2015-10-22T16:17:36","modified_gmt":"2015-10-22T05:17:36","slug":"from-the-president-oct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/news-media\/from-the-president-oct\/","title":{"rendered":"From the President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>26 Oct<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Next week, on Thursday 5 November, the National Awards will be presented in Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p><u><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/news-media\/jury-unveils-shortlist-for-the-2015-national-architecture-awards\" target=\"_blank\">We announced the shortlist<\/a><\/u> last month, a selection of 73 entries (59 projects) to progress to the final stage of the awards program. The shortlist was chosen from 185 entries that were eligible following success at the Regional and Chapter Architecture Awards, held around the country earlier in the year.<\/p>\n<p>The diversity and quality of this year&#8217;s award winning projects from around the country is exceptional.<\/p>\n<p>A new category, Educational Architecture, has been introduced this year to reflect the increasing number of educational facilities entered in the awards program. For its first year, the Daryl Jackson Award for Educational Architecture has a shortlist of nine projects, more than any other category, demonstrating the strength of educational works around the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Awards will be presented on Thursday 5 November at the University of Queensland Advanced Engineering Building in Brisbane (Richard Kirk Architect and HASSELL), 2014 winner of the coveted Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Public Architecture.<\/p>\n<p>This year, members of the public have the opportunity to vote for their favourite shortlisted residential project in the People\u2019s Choice Award. There are 11 diverse and inspiring homes in the running for crowd favourite with voters having until 5pm AEDST this Wednesday to have their say. The winner will be announced on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>More information on the 2015 National Architecture Awards and the People\u2019s Choice Award is available at <a href=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/awards-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\">architecture.com.au\/awards-2015\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the awards, we launch the 2016 National Architecture Conference: <em>How Soon is Now<\/em>. The creative team (Cameron Bruhn, Sam Spurr and Ben Hewett) is developing a program that will engage and inspire the profession and beyond, and there are some incredible speakers already on board.
