{"id":11367,"date":"2016-01-28T17:04:40","date_gmt":"2016-01-28T06:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/news-media\/?p=11367"},"modified":"2019-07-15T14:41:06","modified_gmt":"2019-07-15T04:41:06","slug":"droga-architecture-residency-welcomes-finnish-icon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/news-media\/droga-architecture-residency-welcomes-finnish-icon\/","title":{"rendered":"Droga Architecture Residency welcomes Finnish icon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned Finnish architect and architectural philosopher, Juhani Pallasmaa will shortly arrive in Australia ahead of his Droga Architecture Residency.<\/p>\n<p>A former juror for the Pritzker Architecture Prize and jury member for the extension of Sydney Modern, Pallasmaa will present a series of lectures around the country beginning at the Sydney Opera House on 23 February.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Juhani Pallasmaa is highly regarded worldwide for not only his architectural works but his contributions through lectures, seminars, books, exhibitions and philosophical reflections.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It is a great honour and a great opportunity to host Juhani as the next Droga Architect in Residence and we are excited by the wealth of expertise and inspiration he will bring as he tours the country,\u2019 Jury Chair Brit Andresen said.<\/p>\n<p>Pallasmaa\u2019s lecture series, titled The Australian Lectures: Touching the World Through Architecture, will explore alternative directions for architecture, away from purely vision, form and aesthetics, drawing from philosophy, psychology, biology, neuroscience and the analysis of artistic phenomena.<\/p>\n<p>Pallasmaa has practised architecture since the early 1960s, establishing his own office in 1983.
