Commenting on Barangaroo<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NSW Chapter has had a keen interest in the re-development of the public land at Barangaroo for a number of years. \u00a0We made three\u00a0submissions<\/a>\u00a0in 2010 and 2011 focusing on the quality of the concept plan and on the process for assessing development proposals at Barangaroo South.<\/p>\n

The finalists in the James Packer casino design competition prompted a\u00a0letter<\/a>\u00a0by then NSW President Joe Agius in 2013, which was then\u00a0picked up<\/a>\u00a0by the Sydney Morning Herald\u2019s State Political Reporter Sean Nicholls.<\/p>\n

It was my turn in late March when I criticised<\/a>\u00a0the Department of Planning & Environment\u2019s\u00a0decision<\/a>\u00a0not to include some of the design review panel\u2019s key recommendations in its submission to the Planning Assessment Commission, which makes the final decision on the development application. These comments generated some spirited\u00a0contributions<\/a>\u00a0to the Herald\u2019s letters column the next day.<\/p>\n

Articles about the design review process by\u00a0Anne Davies<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Sean Nicholls<\/a>\u00a0were published in the Herald in the last two weekends.<\/p>\n
