The Australian Institute of Architects congratulates Life Fellow Richard Graham Thorp on his receipt of Australia Day Honours.<\/p>\n
Mr Thorp was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for \u2018significant service to architecture, particularly through the development of major public projects, and to professional organisations\u2019.<\/p>\n
A member of the Institute since 1980, Mr Thorp was a Managing Partner of Mitchell Guirgola Thorp which won the Sir Zelman Cowen Award for Public Architecture and an ACT Chapter Merit Award for Parliament House following its completion in 1989.<\/p>\n
\u2018It is a pleasure to congratulate Richard Thorp on the occasion of his appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia,\u2019 Institute CEO, David Parken said.<\/p>\n
Mr Thorp has also participated in a variety of roles within the profession including as President of the Association of Consulting Architects, a member of the Institute\u2019s National Continuing Professional Development Committee and as President of the Architects\u2019 Registration Board of NSW.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
