{"id":7010,"date":"2015-03-02T16:12:46","date_gmt":"2015-03-02T05:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/news-media\/?p=7010"},"modified":"2016-05-30T14:41:24","modified_gmt":"2016-05-30T04:41:24","slug":"sa-chapter-news-mon-2-mar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/news-media\/sa-chapter-news-mon-2-mar\/","title":{"rendered":"SA Chapter News &#8211; Mon 2 Mar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Architectural Practice Board of South Australia\u2019s Annual Certificates and Awards Presentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Architectural Practice Board of South Australia\u2019s Annual Certificates and Awards Presentation and launch of its project, \u2018What does an Architect do?\u2019 function was held at the National Wine Centre on 18 February 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The Presiding Member of the Board, Mr Gary Bonato, welcomed 95 guests including The Honourable Vickie Chapman, MP, Shadow Minister for Housing and Urban Development and Associate Professor Andrew Hutson, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, University of Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>Proceedings commenced when Gary gave launched the first of fifteen short films for the Board\u2019s project \u2018What does an Architect do?\u2019. \u00a0The first film features Steve Grieve\u2019s Goolwa house.\u00a0 The series of short film aims to showcase the value of architecture, the importance and context of design in place-making and the built environment, and the role of an architect.\u00a0 Each film will feature an architect talking about their approach to an architectural project with a view to inspiring the next generation \u2013 the films will be released over time and will be on the APBSA website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.archboardsa.org.au\">www.archboardsa.org.au<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Gary then introduced Associate Professor Andrew Hutson who talked about the public interest role of the Board and the privileged position architects have when providing their services to the community.\u00a0 He then presented the award winners with their prizes and certificates. \u00a0\u00a0The winners for 2014 were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ms Danielle O\u2019Dea for APBSA Best Practice in Architecture Prize: Robert Denyer Cheesman Award<\/li>\n<li>Mr John Held and Ms Sue Phillips for APBSA Research Fellowship<\/li>\n<li>Ms Emma Haberman, University of Adelaide student and Mr Waleed Al-Moughraby, University of SA student \u2013 both recipients of the APBSA University Prizes for the highest grade in \u2018Professional Practice\u2019 subject.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Associate Professor Andrew Hutson then presented certificates of registration to 20 newly registered architects who had passed the APE in 2014.\u00a0 Three newly registered architects were unable to attend the function.\u00a0 He then presented AACA Certificates to five successful APE candidates.\u00a0 Two successful APE candidates were unable to attend the function.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Words thanks to Sue Millbank, Registrar of the Architectural Practice Board of SA<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Architectural Practice Board of South Australia\u2019s Annual Certificates and Awards Presentation The Architectural Practice Board of South Australia\u2019s Annual Certificates and Awards Presentation and launch of its project, \u2018What does an Architect do?\u2019 function was held at the National Wine Centre on 18 February 2015.
