Image by Christopher Frederick Jones<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <b>Translational Research Institute<\/b> in Brisbane by <b>Wilson Architects and Donovan Hill (Architects in Association) <\/b>received the top honour on the night, the <b>F.D.G Stanley Award for Public Architecture<\/b>, along with the <b>G.H.M. Addison Award for Interior Architecture<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The laboratory and research facility features a series of interconnected spaces around a central communal garden to deliver respite to the research community from the intensity of the work inside.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018A great sense of generosity and enjoyability is ingrained into every aspect of this laboratory building. It offers lavishly-crafted spaces across a range of scales that redefine not only the cramped campus in which it is located, but also the laboratory building typology itself.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Unique and intelligent lighting design, timber detailing and a complete approach to entire space have resulted in a set of interior experiences that will provide the users with multiple opportunities for workplace and social collaborations,\u2019 the jury reflected.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>Robin Dods Award for Residential Architecture &#8211; Houses <\/b>was awarded to <b>James Russell Architect <\/b>for <b>Bisley Place House<\/b>. A home that celebrates place, environment and community, Bisley Place House also represents a new style of living that allows the home to be opened up to the street front encouraging engagement between inhabitants and their neighbours beyond.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_729\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-729\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wp.architecture.com.au\/news-media\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/06\/Bisley-Place-House-by-James-Russell-Architect_Toby-Scott.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-729 \" alt=\"Bisley Place House by James Russell Architect. Image by Toby Scott<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u2018A reconsideration of the notion of public interface in an established brick veneer residential suburb has led the development of an exciting typology. The exploration of blurred interfaces between exterior and interior informed the delightful &#8216;u&#8217; shaped plan with open rooms allowing a connection of yards from front, via central court, to rear.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018exemplary new landmark tower\u2019, <b>One One One Eagle Street<\/b> by <b>Cox Rayner Architects<\/b> topped the commercial architecture category, winning the <b>Beatrice Hutton Award for Commercial Architecture<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to a challenging program and site, <b>Constance Street Affordable Housing<\/b> also by <b>Cox Rayner Architects <\/b>was rewarded with the <b>Job &amp; Froud Award for Residential Architecture \u2013 Multiple Housing <\/b>and the <b>Harry Marks Award for Sustainable Architecture.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2018The apartments are well planned and provide a high level of amenity while the communal spaces respond to the user requirements and create a variety of unpretentious, comfortable spaces,\u2019 said the jury.<\/p>\n<p>The<b> <\/b><b>Hayes &amp; Scott Award for Small Project Architecture <\/b>was awarded to Far North Queensland architects, <b>Charles Wright Architects<\/b> for a \u2018deceptively simple alteration and addition\u2019, <b>Re-Newell<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The client\u2019s brief has been cleverly interpreted by the architect and his team to create an almost perfect beachside retreat with a variety of space types.
