The Australian Institute of Architects Awards & Prizes program offers an opportunity for public and peer recognition of the innovative work of NSW architects. The program also provides the Institute with a valuable mechanism to promote architects and architecture within NSW, across Australia and internationally.<\/p>\n

By entering into the NSW Architecture Awards<\/a><\/strong>, which feed into the National Architecture Awards program<\/strong>,<\/a> you give yourself, your firm and your staff the opportunity to be judged for the work you are proud of, the issues you stand for and to show your peers what you have been working on. It can be an important contributor to your membership in the architectural community, and also offer milestones in your career \u2013 whether as an emerging architect, small firm or as a member of a larger project team.<\/p>\n

The Newcastle Architecture Awards<\/a><\/strong> are a regional program held annually as part of the Australian Institute of Architect\u2019s National Architecture Awards program.
\nOpen to projects located in the Newcastle region, winners of the Newcastle Architecture Awards have the opportunity to progress to be considered at state level via the NSW Architecture Awards.<\/p>\n

The NSW Country Division Architecture Awards<\/a><\/strong> celebrate the work of architects working in regional NSW. Since its inception in 1960, the NSW Country Division has provided continuous representation and service to NSW regional architects of the Australian Institute of Architects outside the metropolitan areas of Sydney and Newcastle. <\/p>\n

The NSW Chapter also coordinates the NSW Student Architecture Awards <\/strong><\/a>to recognise the best projects and emerging architectural talent from the four major schools of architecture in NSW.<\/p>\n

NSW Chapter Prizes<\/strong><\/a> are either awarded to relevant entries in the Awards submission pool, or are presented following an open call for independent nominations each year. Prizes open for nomination include the Marion Mahony Griffin Prize, David Lindner Prize, the Emerging Architect Prize and the Adrian Ashton Prize. Entries to the NSW Architecture Awards are eligible for the City of Sydney Lord Mayor\u2019s Prize for Design Excellence, Blacket Prize and NSW Premier\u2019s Prize. The NSW President\u2019s Prize is awarded at the discretion of the NSW Chapter President and is given to an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the profession of architecture. The NSW Architecture Medallion is awarded for \u2018best in show\u2019 selected from recipients of the named award in each category of the NSW Architecture Awards.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>2019 Country Division Architecture Awards Winners Announced<\/strong><\/p>\n

Taking its inspiration from the ecology of the local area, Cloud Cottage in Bowral,<\/strong> has taken out the top prize at this year\u2019s prestigious Australian Institute of Architects\u2019 NSW Country Division Awards, the James Barnet Award. The cottage design employed many environmental principles such as geothermal heating and cooling, plus solar and rainwater storage. NSW Chapter President, Kathlyn Loseby, congratulated all 2019 award winners and noted: \u2018Regional architects make a significant contribution not only to the profession but more importantly in the vital role they play in creating local designs that support more sustainable and connected communities.\u2019<\/p>\n

\"NSW<\/a>2019 NSW Architecture Awards Winners Announced<\/strong><\/p>\n

Winners of the 2019 New South Wales (NSW) Architecture Awards have been announced, honouring the state\u2019s leading architecture, with public projects dominating across multiple categories. Across 12 categories, 51 awards were given including named awards, architecture awards andcommendations from 97 shortlisted projects and 212 entries. Awards were also given to outstanding public and commercial projects across the NSW Architecture Medallion, 2019 NSW Premier\u2019s Prize, 2019 City of Sydney Lord Mayor\u2019s Prize, Blacket Prize and Enduring Award categories.<\/p>\n

The Maitland Riverlink by CHROFI Architects with McGregor Coxall emerged as the preeminent project in this year\u2019s Newcastle Architecture Awards, collecting a swathe of honours including the prestigious Jury Prize at the presentation night held in Merewether on 21 March. NSW Chapter President Kathlyn Loseby concurred with Ms Wilson that the region is emerging as an inspiring example of a continuously rejuvenating and dynamically evolving built environment. \u2018Greater Newcastle will continue to be an exciting place to watch into the future.\u2019<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>2018 NSW Country Division Architecture Awards – Winners Announced<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 2018 Country Division Architecture Awards were announced on Thursday 4 October in the Hunter Valley as part of the NSW Regional Conference, with fifteen projects recognised across twelve categories. <\/p>\n

A cellar door built for a boutique winery in Orange, Montoro Wines, took out the top prize for regional architecture, the James Barnet Award. Designed by Orange-based practice Source Architects, the building was conceived as a broad platform where inside and outside bleed together to form a continuous space that encourages patrons to linger on the terrace and be a part of the stunning landscape that provides the building\u2019s context and vistas.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s juries for the 2018 NSW Architecture Awards shortlisted 92 entries out of 206 entries received across 10 categories, with a notable increase in entries in the Residential and Interior Architecture categories. In total the jury bestowed 69 awards and commendations and the winners in each category were announced at the 2018 NSW Architecture Awards ceremony on Friday 6 July. Joynton Avenue Creative Precinct by Peter Stutchbury Architecture in association with Design 5 \u2013 Architects for City of Sydney is the first ever recipient of the NSW Architecture Medallion for \u2018best in show\u2019 selected from recipients of the named award in each category.<\/p>\n

2018 Newcastle Architecture Awards – Winners Announced<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Newcastle Architecture Awards Winners<\/a> were announced at the awards night on Friday 23, Merewether Surfhouse.
\nThe night\u2019s top award, the Newcastle Jury Prize, went to the University of Newcastle\u2019s new \u201cvertical campus,\u201d NeW Space, designed by Lyons and EJE Architecture.
\nThe Newcastle Architecture Awards received a record number entries in 2018, a demonstration of the breadth of work undertaken across a number categories.<\/p>\n

We are pleased to congratulate the winners of this year\u2019s NSW Architecture Awards, announced on Saturday 1 July. From a record number of entries this year\u2019s juries bestowed a total of 66 awards and commendations. Residential Architecture \u2013 Multiple Housing was the largest category in the 2017 NSW program, highlighting the role architects have in developing alternative housing options for our increasing population. The 2017 Newcastle Architecture Awards were announced on Thursday 9 March at a presentation evening at the Merewether Surfhouse, with twenty projects recognised across eleven categories.<\/p>\n

The complex alteration of a modest four-unit, beachside structure by Genton Architecture took top honours, the jury recognised the \u2018enigmatic and innovative\u2019 43 Ocean Street North Avoca project with both the Award for Excellence and Award for Residential Architecture \u2013 Multiple Housing.
