The Newcastle Architecture Awards Winners<\/a> were announced at the awards night on Friday 23, Merewether Surfhouse. <\/span><\/p>\n

The night\u2019s top award, the Newcastle Jury Prize, went to the University of Newcastle\u2019s new \u201cvertical campus,\u201d NeW Space, designed by Lyons and EJE Architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n

The jury noted the building is \u201can exemplar of design for \u2018new generation\u2019 learning, urban renewal, and of civic place making, drawing together a complex brief of interlocking educational and public spaces.\u201d The building also received awards in the Urban Design, Educational Architecture and Interior Architecture categories.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Newcastle Architecture Awards received a record number entries in 2018, a demonstration of the breadth of work undertaken across a number categories.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cArchitects are contributing to providing better environments in Newcastle across all spheres \u2013 and Newcastle seems to have an abundance of refreshingly down to earth, friendly, welcoming architects and supportive, happy, enlightened clients who are immensely proud of their projects,\u201d said Sam Crawford, jury chair. \u201cAll of this bodes well for the future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
