Parlour Salon @FAD
July 18 @ 7:15 pm - 9:00 pm$10 – $20
Parlour and AWS are delighted to present a special Salon as part of the Adelaide Festival of Architecture and Design, with Naomi Stead and Angelique Edmonds.
Parlour presents a special Seasonal Salon for the Festival of Architecture and Design.
Casual and welcoming, the Parlour Salons are an opportunity to connect with many of the women active in Adelaide’s built environment. For FAD, Professor Naomi Stead and Dr Angelique Edmonds will conduct an informal public conversation on the theme of ‘Ideals of Home’, drawing on their personal connections to Adelaide along with their research and practice commitments.
Then it is over to you – meet new people, swap stories and strategies, form new networks and revive older ones. And simply enjoy the company of some of the great people of South Australian architecture and the built environment.
Naomi Stead is Professor of Architecture and Head of the Department of Architecture at Monash University, Melbourne. She is a co-founder of Parlour, a research-based activist group advocating for gender equity in architecture. Stead is also an award-winning and widely published architecture critic, and is an architecture columnist for the San Francisco-based journal Places.
Angelique Edmonds is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture & Sustainable Design at UniSA, and the founder and Creative Director of the School for Creating Change. Her current design research advocacy work focuses on engaging refugees and migrants in decisions about public places as a precursor to assisting social inclusion and settlement.
