Mr Andrew Cooksley RAIA

Andrew was educated in Queensland and is currently the Principal of the architectural practice ACArch based on the Sunshine Coast but is constantly shuttling back and forth between Brisbane and the deep blue sea.

He has over two decades experience both here and abroad as an architect and urban designer. His private sector experience has focused on residential, educational and community facilities and he has a solid understanding of planning policy, town centre master planning, infrastructure delivery and development assessment. The recent decade has been invested the public sector initially in local government on the Sunshine Coast and more recently in the state government assisting the Queensland Government Architect.

Much of Andrew’s energy goes into advocating for design and architecture and he is a member of the Sunshine Coast Council’s Urban Design Advisory Panel and the management committee of the public architectural event Brisbane Open House.

He has been active in the Regional Awards programs across the state and he has a strong belief in the value of regional architecture, its operational context/s and the significant contribution of regional practitioners.

Andrew considers the role of the Institute to be critical both as a source of support for practitioners and as the voice of the profession.
