And the winner is!!
Thank you to the 100 participants involved in Aurecon’s Victorian Architecture Awards Presentation to Juries competition, March 15. We are very pleased to announce that Hamer Hall topped the list as the building with the most significant and unique contribution to Melbourne’s iconic cityscape. The MCG came in second.
Congratulations to Sara Smith from Honeyman + Smith; winner of Aurecon’s iPad Air competition. Casting her vote for Melbourne Central, Sara said:
“After beginning studying Architecture at RMIT I became really interested in the Metabolist Movement and to my delight realised that Kisho Kurakawa had actually designed the glass cone at Melbourne Central. I thought that it was so impressive that Melbourne had a piece of architecture designed by such a significant and influential architect. The way the crystal like form wraps around the old shot tower was really ahead in terms of other designs in Australia at that time. The design is elegant, detailed and timeless.”
Aurecon is the proud sponsor of the Victorian Architecture Awards Melbourne Prize.
