13 July, 2015
In May this year new regulations to the Architect’s Act (Architects Regulations 2015) introduced the requirement for practising architects to maintain the appropriate level of knowledge, skill and competence. The ARBV has defined Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as one way architects can ensure that they maintain and enhance professional knowledge and skills, to maintain technical excellence and to better serve the community and profession.
Starting in July 2016 practising architects will be asked to affirm that they have met the CPD requirements each year when they pay their annual registration fee. In this first year there will be flexibility as to the time period that CPD must have been undertaken, so members will be able to log CPD they attended prior to July 2015, assuming it is recent and relevant.
