From the Executive Director

Well here we are to the middle of the year with our awards on Friday (please remember to book asap) and I think we are all surprised how quickly the year has gone. We have been busy over the last few months with several CPD and networking events and we are finalising the calendar for the rest of the year. We are currently working through dates for PALS, the Gold Medal tour, Super Studio and some events as part of October Business Month.

Over the last few months we have actively been working through many advocacy areas. Last week we had a round table with DIPL on procurement to look at how we can work together for a better outcome for Architects and for the Department. This was a really positive meeting with a commitment to hold these meetings quarterly to address key areas for development. We are also currently working on the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Museum (NATSIAM) and ongoing Barneson Boulevard issues. There is a public meeting this Thursday the 21st of June 5.15pm in the Galleria on Barneson Blvd please see all details later in the newsletter and hopefully you can attend.

Some of you may not be aware that the new ABIC contracts are out and just a quick reminder they are in our office for purchase.

Another focus area for us over the next six months is to develop a Mentoring program with local Architects. We are keen for as many people to be involved as possible and if you are interested please contact us to discuss. This is an exciting time and the more people that can be part of this program the better.

Finally, and on another note, I am participating in Dry July to raise money for Cancer Council NT. Unfortunately we have been touched by cancer closely and we want to make a difference for the Cancer Council here in the NT to help them to continue good work they do. My goal this year is to raise more money than my husband who pipped me at the post at 11pm on the last day of July with a $1,000 donation so please support me by following this link https://www.dryjuly.com/users/raquel-nichollsskene.

See you all at the NT Awards on Friday.

Cheers

Raquel
