This week I would like to stress the importance of attending our upcoming workshops on Project Bank Accounts (PBA’s) being held on August 8th. These sessions are aimed at specifically discussing how the new legislation will impact on Architects working in superintendent or head consultant roles, where the contract is between 1 to 10 million dollars. Whilst PBA’s are currently restricted to government projects this year, it is important to realise that they will be rolled out to private sector projects from March 2019 and has the potential to significantly impact on how members manage their roles as superintendents and head consultants.
The workshops will run for 2 hours, and attendance is capped at 15 per session to ensure the conversation is personalised and able to answer specific questions around obligations and legalities. If you feel that you will be impacted by this legislation from next year onwards then I strongly recommend you attend to ensure you can adequately prepare for the change. You can book into a workshop time here.
On a lighter note, Paul and I will be endeavouring to produce a video chat update once a month on our activities. you can view the first one on the Chapters Facebook page. We hope that this will be a more informal insight into the activities of the Chapter and allow you to ask questions or make suggestions.
It’s also not too late to attend this weeks “Out There Speaker Series” event on Thursday. This week we will hear from Anna O’Gorman and the North Shore Pavilion, Guymer Bailey Architects in Collaboration Norman Richards Building Design + Interiors for the Mary Cain Cross Scenic Reserve and BVN for the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre. You can purchase a ticket here.
