1MP Company and ADFIS – Service Police Precinct Lavarack Barracks Redevelopment Stage 4
(Conrad Garget) A quiet strength is expressed in the rational steel framing deployed throughout the site. robust and naturally ventilated buildings respond express the military values of professionalism and efficiency.

Hughes Street Houses
(Outcrop Architecture) This is a multi-residential development on a challengingly small site. The individual units are in the character of the local area, well-appointed and spacious with open external decks that borrow landscape views to the mango trees beyond the site.

22 Walker Street
(CA Architects Pty Ltd) This multi storey office building has been given a sorely needed redevelopment. The facade, services and amenity has been rejuvenated to extend its economic life. Look forward to the future plans for the ground floor refurbishment and enhancement of the pedestrian experience.

Shaw & Co.
(Daarc) Show and Co project delivers skilful adaptation of the original 1925 building and its former industrial character under the small budget. The architect’s design approach establishes casual and playful dialogue between past and present, using row and restrained material palette. Within the context of City Lane, Shaw & Co showcase a positive contribution to the rejuvenation of the CBD public domain.

Two Harkness
(9point9 Architects) The project is collaboration between architect and building contractor with the aim to test the current preconceptions of mid-to-high-end residential house market setting an example of high end sustainability in tropics. The display home provides high level of natural ventilation and opens the visual references to its surrounds.

Australian Institute of Marine Science National Sea Simulator
(Cox Rayner Architects in association with Tippett Schrock Architects) AIMS is the new world class marine science research facility. The architects unpack the exceptionally complex functional brief into a compact, cost effective and functional building outcome that sits comfortably within its natural pristine environment.

Keyes & Co Property – Foyer Refurbishment
(Outcrop Architecture) This real estate agency has embraced the on-line model of conducting business. However a recognisable address was still required in which to do business and host the more traditional forms of selling auctions and one on one meetings with agents.
This has also allowed the idea of shopfront to be reinterpreted. The shop has become a lightbox. The dark timber floor and matching timber batten wall /ceiling to the first few meters of the entry.

Yarrawonga Suite
(9point9 Architects) The opulence of the view to the sea and islands is expressed in the richness of the finishes, fine detailing of the joinery and expansive ensuite.

Grow Your Wealth
(9point9 Architects) Grow Your Wealth project is the dramatic transformation of a 1970’s weatherboard high-set residence typology into a boutique commercial building. The architect’s refined and cost-effective manipulation of the old fabric sets a benchmark for future adaptations along the busy arterial road. The contemporary building expression delivers a refreshing corporate image.

Postgraduate Centre for Training Townsville
(Architectus) Postgraduate Centre for Training, JCU is the training hub for professionals from inland and coastal regions of North Queensland. The architects delivers balanced, refined and innovative conceptual framework with variety of well integrated spaces along the main circulation spine culminating with full height glazing at the northern end with views of Magnetic Island.

James Cook University Outdoor Learning Centre
(Indij Architectural & Interior Design) This learning centre is about listening, touching seeing, smelling and connecting with the heritage of the traditional owners of this land.

The building and other structures give a sense of purpose to the prerogatives of learning. The yarning circles in particular are modest interventions in the landscape yet reflect profound cultural ideas for the passing down of knowledge through language and storytelling.
