The Black House
This house in George St, Launceston, has been designed to ensure that the occupants can enjoy the incredible views of the city from all of the dwelling’s key spaces. The form seeks to sensitively complement the old brick house while facilitating an outdoor living lifestyle via generous use of openings and layering of thresholds. Consideration has been given to the experience of the home from key locations as one circulates through the dwelling. A new entry provides a sense of occasion when arriving with a large volume, beautiful Australian timber detailing, a lush green wall, and glimpses of the view out.
The relatively limited internal space flows easily to the outdoor entertaining area as large sliding doors are concealed within the wall cavity.
