14 Kardinya Close

Located in Northern Tasmania, on the edge of the Tamar River in a rural setting, a short drive north of the city of Launceston, 14 Kardinya Close offers amazing views to surrounding mountains and river. The site is open and exposed to the fierce north westerly weather events. Through the design of the Kardinya Close residence, we sought to recalibrate the entire site, to see it as a large singular landscaped setting allowing the rural pastures to drift into and throughout this residence. From the first meeting with our clients, a strong bond and friendship was formed. We shared a strong joint passion for Californian Modernist architecture, especially from both our travels to Palm Springs. This residence appears as a linear arrangement with seven interlinked pavilions, each defined by its own intersecting internal / external stacked block walls and vertical hardwood like weatherboards hold within the separate functions of the home.
