Edge meets Mental Health and Wellbeing
The Upscale build event is approaching for 2018 and all SONA members can apply for free. It’s a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with your peers, architecture professionals and technical advisors and will work to foster a mentoring network for you.
Upscale is a fast-paced event and will run on 4 – 8 June at the Griffith & Bond University in conjunction with the National Architecture Conference! As architects gather in the Gold Coast from around Australia it’s a great opportunity to show what the country’s architecture students can do.
As a program, students will gain insight into working with real clients and seeing their designs come to life through the build process. Once completed the models will be displayed in an exhibition for viewing by all the architects who attended the conference. It is also a fantastic networking opportunity and gives you one more reason to come along to the conference.
Organised by the Student Organised Network for Architecture (SONA), with thanks to national supporting partner Bondor.

Fringe Event: AA Round Table
In January 2018, Architecture Australia published a special issue: Gold Coast – A new cultural and urban condition for the twenty-first century. Join contributors to this landmark publication, along with Architecture Australia’s Editorial Director Cameron Bruhn, for a lively panel discussion that seeks to tease out some of the provocative positions as well as the local work of excellence and the insights of ways forward for the ever-changing Gold Coast.

As a specially commissioned project for Edge – 2018 National Architecture Conference, Super Souvenir will present a special display on how Gold Coast architecture has been presented on souvenirs and show how the stylish built form became so much a part of Gold Coast allure. Alongside the t-towels and trays are new works by 6 contemporary artists whose responses to the architectural form of the city seek to provoke thinking on a new generation of souvenirs and interrogate the need for the design of future memories.
