Spring Beach Getaway
Located on Tasmania’s east coast, an hour’s drive from Hobart, this beach house sits overlooking the pristine waters of Spring Beach to the north and, beyond that, to Maria Island.
The house is shared between two families, providing a gathering place for relaxation in the sun and also a place to enjoy the joys of growing families and the company of friends.
The concept for the project evolved from a pragmatic response to the site – a desire to capture specific views both to and from the house, and from the challenge of accommodating two families and their needs within a modest footprint and budget. To achieve its conceptual goals, the house is arranged into two offset and staggered pavilions. The northern pavilion accommodates the core living areas of the house and provides the focal point of the house – a place to gather, relax and enjoy the sun.
