Fertility Tasmania
In the heart of Hobart’s CBD lies Fertility Tasmania’s wonderfully serene clinic, purpose built to provide care to women in all stages of their reproductive life. BYA Architects has cleverly disguised the state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, creating a feminine and intimate atmosphere for clients. The pivot point of the design stemmed from the idea of evicting the old traditions of the hospital environment, but interpreting the feeling of home as an experience and creating a layered spatial experience for the occupants with increasing levels of privacy. The clinic and the laboratory are strategically knitted together by soft curved walls. Consulting rooms are masked by vertical timber slats and translucent glass. The branding has been integrated into laser cut pivot doors, also providing an acoustic buffer between the waiting areas and consulting rooms. This approach has allowed for both privacy and excellent natural light to internal spaces.
