105 Macquarie St Apartments
The project for 105 Macquarie Street Apartments began for Preston Lane Architects as a feasibility study to determine the use options for the upper floor of this three-storey, heritage-listed building. The current office space was underused and difficult to lease due to the access requirements and other constraints of the building. The inherent properties of the building were used to direct the concept for the apartments. The space at front of the building addressing the street was broad and light filled, whilst the rear part of the building was dark and narrow. Each apartment was to provide a different theme: the front light, bright and festive, with an intimate whisky lounge theme to the rear apartment.
