Ancanthe Park

Ancanthe Park is located on the fringe of Hobart and is a gateway to the foothills of Mount Wellington. The park is of historical and cultural significance. The design idea behind the new amenity block is mainly driven by the idea to create a facility that can be utlised by different user groups including the art society (Lady Franklin Museum), mountain bikers, bushwalkers and families. The bus shelter was moved from its original location to create a waiting area inside the park which blends in with its surrounding of the old Lady Franklin Museum. The new buildings have been well received and widely used by diverse groups. The form, materials and location compliment the cultural and historical significance of the site and make it a successful addition to the park fabric.
